Avatar. My first movie review.

On pace to shatter pretty much every record ever, I thought I’d check out the hype that is James Cameron’s “Avatar”. I actually heard about Avatar a long time ago as the buzz on the internet has been crazy for some time.

I love going to the movies. I’m caught up in the excitement the second I walk in and smell the popcorn, but this time was different. This was 3-D. I was pumped. Imagine my excitement when I realized that 3-D glasses were no longer cheap flimsy cardboard with blue and red lenses, but rather a sleek black pair that make you look like Marty Scorcese (minus the eyebrows of course).

Avatar was pretty good in that it was 3-D and it was different, but the movie itself was a little predictable and a little copy-catish. There were a few times throughout the flick that I had flashes of other movies including Terminator, Jurassic Park, Robocop and of course the Matrix. That’s the great thing about this movie however, is that it is like 4 or 5 amazing movies all wrapped into one. If you haven’t been to see it (and you probably have) I certainly suggest that you do. Avatar is on it’s own level in terms of movies but on a 4 star scale I give it a 3 1/2. Predictability is no fun and it could have done without the cheezy military explosions. All in all a great experience:)

New York Jets!!

Perusing the internet the other day, I came across my old blog that I thought was shut down.  I considered forwarding the address to my current blog at wesleybehan.com but then I decided to keep it, change the look and use it as a personal blog separate from my work site.

With that comes a new post.  What to write about?  Well this time of year, my weekends are usually consumed by NFL Football.   Yesterday, my beloved Jets played their hearts out and made a heck of a game out of the AFC Championship.  After leading 17-13 at the half, the Jets just couldn’t seem to keep it going in the 2nd half and the powerful Colts offense took over.

The Jets played beyond everyone’s expectations and made it deep into the playoffs with a rookie running back, rookie quarterback and a new coach.   Their defense was tops of the league this year and I think the team has a bright future ahead.

The Superbowl is now set.  With the win over the Jets, the Colts will advance to play the New Orleans Saints who defeated Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in overtime in the night game.  You can bet I’ll be cheering for the Saints and I am already looking forward to next year.  I will miss you football.  See you soon.
